10 - 12 days in Germany

Hi

My friend and I are intending to visit Germany in mid april but we are unsure of the cities to go to. As of now, we are intending to visit Munich, Hamburg and Berlin. Is there any other cities that we should definitely visit? Also, what are places of attraction and must dos in the cities we intend to visit? We are interested in exploring the culture of Germany. Thanks! :)

It is tough to tell other people what they are going to enjoy. We prefer midsize towns like Regensburg, Bamberg, Würzburg, Aschaffenburg and Nürnberg. We have also enjoyed smaller sized places like Landshut, Rothenburg, Ochsenfurt, Marktbreit and Bad Windsheim. These are all located in Bayern (Bavaria) where I was stationed twice. You can find similar attractions in any area of Germany. I like to mix sizes of places that I visit and their devotion to tourism. Rather than selecting 3 major cities that are far apart, you might consider taking one of them and exploring the areas around them. I am sure that you will enjoy yourselves in any case.

The 3 cities you're interested in are all relatively far apart, and since you have only 10-12 days total (that's about 3 or 4 days per city without accounting for travel time), I'd suggest sticking to those.

Since you selected those cities, there must be a reason why you want to see them. What do you want to see and do there?

Hi,

If these three are top priority, then that is all the time you have From Berlin and Hamburg you can take the CNL night train Munich if you want to consider that option and gaining an extra day. If you have other towns/cities in mind, are these in the north or the south?

"...interested in exploring the culture of Germany." If you want to make this your primary focus, then I suggest staying in the north, ie, seeing Berlin, Potsdam, Weimar, Dresden, Meißen, Hamburg, Schwerin, Lübeck, or Leipzig. Choose among these or others in the north.
