1 night in Frankfurt ideas

My husband and I, with our two young children, arrive in Frankfurt at 8:40PM on a weekday in late July and our next flight leaves at 7:00AM. I was thinking of staying in the airport, but it seems a waste. Any suggestions for something quick? Should we book a hotel close the the airport and try a nice restaurant or can we do a short evening tour by taxi?

I think, with those flight times and two young children, I would just stay at the airport. There's a Hilton right there.

You do not say from when you are coming to Frankfurt and where your departure flight is taking you. But, even if it is from within and to a another city in the zone, by the time you have collected your luggage and exited the secure area, it will be at the earliest 9:00 PM. And this is assuming that your flight arrive reasonably on time - not at all a given these days ... I believe that with your young children and your need to be at the airport early the next morning (5:00 AM?) you would be best to stay at or very near the airport.

Yes, the Hilton Garden Inn right in the airport. There's a market right down the escalator with an attached snack bar serving good roasted chicken at a very reasonable price. Not elegant, but kid-friendly and quick -- or you could even take it back to your room if the kids are wiped out by 9 p.m.

Thank you, everyone! I booked a room at the Hilton for that night! We are flying in from Edinbourg and heading to Lisbon, so International flights. Thanks so much for the suggestions! So, no one thinks it's worth hiring a taxi for a quick drive to see the city? Also, do restaurants tend to close early? I noticed in Vienna they closed much earlier than in Spain & Portugal... Since we arrive late, I'm thinking we may have limited options for a meal... Maybe the chicken suggested is the best, kid-friendly option?

There is a Paulaner restaurant there in the Squaire near the Hilton. At least have a good German meal while you are there. They are open until midnight every day.

A taxi will cost you at least 35 euro each way. With such an early morning flight, this is not something I would spend 70 euro to do at 22:00.
