Trier Hostel and Restaurant Review

Just finished four nights in Trier.
Stayed at the Kolpinger Hostel. Located in city center in pedestrian zone. Fifteen minute walk or two-stop bus ride from Hbf. Major bus stop is less than 100 yards from the back/garden side of the hostel. I had a private room with shared bath down the hall. Sink in room, double bed, very nice. Shared bath very clean, toilets and showers are lockable and private. I was on third floor, no lift. Paid Euro 146 for all four nights.
Ate at three restaurants. Brasserie zur Sim. Right beside Porta Nigra. They had a winter garden setup with outside bar and food. Benches with blankets around glass enclosed gas fire-pits. Had a good pizza. Full menu inside, but I really enjoyed the outdoor atmosphere. Next was Fruh bis spat. Also in the central pedestrian zone near the market platz. They serve Fruh Kolsch from Koln. Not sure why, but they were 90% full on a Tuesday night! Had a very nice schnitzel. Finally, had a half chicken at Bitburger Wirtshaus. Located at the far end (from Porta Negra) of the pedestrian zone. More of a sports bar vibe here.
Compact, walkable city. Enjoyed my stay.

Thanks for posting! It's been forever since I've been to Trier, but I absolutely adored it! I was lucky enough to be there when their Christmas market was going on. Your post brings back great memories :-)
