Review/recommendation of Hotel Pension Columbus, Berlin

We booked directly with this family-run pension in January 2020 after having stayed with them on prior trips. One elevator-accessible floor of a charming older building, family lives right there. Comfortable rooms with your choice of en-suite or down-the-hall toilets/showers.
Owner Chris cheerily makes breakfast, including her home-made yogurt as well as boiled eggs, assortment of meats, cheeses and breads, cereal, pastries, fruit -- we never needed lunch after that breakfast! She can chat with you in German or English.
Location is a short walk from the Zoo S-bahn, half-block from bus 109 from the airport and bus 100 for sightseeing. U-bahn station within a few blocks. Historic Ka de We (largest department store in Europe) about 5 minutes walk.

This is NOT for people who want 5-star hotel ambiance -- but great for those who appreciate a more personal experience.

"...down the hall toilets/showers." Good, likewise at the Pension in Berlin where I always stay. I'll use Pension Columbus as a back-up if my Pension happens to be booked up in the summer. Thanks for the review...good to know.
