We will be on a RS tour to Fussen. Rick doesn’t cover this area in his book. Any suggestions for dining?
Thanks!
Last year, I stayed at the Best Western Plus in Füssen, and the best meal of the two-week Bavarian trip was at the hotel restaurant. There was a seasonal menu featuring chanterelle mushrooms. I had the homemade spätzle, which included the chanterelles. It was delicious! I also got a side salad, which was packed with a variety of veggies.
In 2019, we ate at Madame Plusch. Great meal, busy and cozy place. We got the last table.
We stayed at Hotel Zum Hechten in Fussen with the RS Alps tour. The meal we had there at the hotel in June of 2024 with the group was delicious and I would highly recommend dining there!
This past summer 2025 in Fussen, our family dined at Hotel Ludwigs and had a wonderful meal! We loved the little indoor courtyard where we dined. They have outdoor seating in front of the establishment but the indoor courtyard was more quaint.
We enjoyed coffee and delicious pastries and cake slices at 'Fussener Kaffeerosterei' and incredible Ice Cream creations at Eis Cafe Dolomiti . Our favorite take-away sandwiches and deli creations came from Brunners. They also offer seating there but to-go, as well. Brunners was incredibly tasty homemade (or at least tasted like it) selections that were very reasonably priced.
Some in our family really adored a Thai place that was very inexpensive and only OK in my opinion. Others loved it but if it's not nice weather, I wouldn't go - called Thuy Golden Stabchen. Again, last one was not my favorite but not terrible.
Enjoy!
