Restaurant choices (current-2022)

I am planning a trip to Germany this September and am looking for restaurant recommendations in Munich, Fussen, and/or Berlin. We are not looking for fancy, just good food at mid-range prices. We have found some from our Rick Steves guidebook (2019) that have closed.

In Berlin we are staying in the Rosenthaler Platz area.

Way, way outside of my area of familiarity .. I defer ...

Although, if you're into burgers there's a great local place NE of Rosenthaler called The Bird @ Am Falkplatz 5 - get there early on week nights, it does fill up.

.

I'm sure it's on your list of things to do, but just in case, no visit to Berlin would be complete without a visit to the KaDeWe Department Store Food Floor:

We haven't been there in several years, but we think this Austrian restaurant (with unusual Austrian wines) is very nice: https://www.ottenthal.com/en/ It's higher-midrange, however. Small, and the website says air-conditioned. Check whether still cash-only.

"Ottenthal" - on Kantstrasse in the Savignyplatz area.

Agree on the wine list but the less than authentic Austrian food in both quality and presentation, is off putting, and it's pricey too boot. That's my review.

Or maybe my expectations are set too high from having had so many great meals in Vienna.
