Can you recommend hotels and restaurants in Passau? We will be at the hotel one night and then need a restaurant for dinner and lunch the next day. We will be taking a river cruise from there.

Before covid, we stayed several times in the Altstadt Hotel (https://www.altstadt-hotel.de/68/en/welcome), last time in 2017. They had a very good breakfast buffet and an elegant in-house restaurant. Location is on the Danube, with easy access to cruise ship berthing places.
Recently (2022/2023), travelling on my own and by train, I stayed in the MK Hotel (https://www.mkhotels.de/home/passau/en) opposite the railway station. Modern, with spacious rooms but not so close to the river. Did not have breakfast there.
There are several restaurants along the Danube, and at many places you can eat outside, weather permitting, but I did not eat at any of them.
In the Old Town, I liked Chandni - Indian (https://www.chandni-online.de/index.html), Fiaba - Vietnam at Heart, and Il Monastero (Italian). In the new town, my favourite is Zweite Heimat, a bio-hamburger restaurant, with vegetarian options (https://www.zweiteheimatpassau.de/).
