Oberammergau Lodging?

We are planning to stay in Oberammergau for a few days in December. We would enjoy a hotel (or other venue) with lovely traditional decor in a quiet part of the town. (One review I read said that while staying at a hotel near the church, they heard church bells all night.) Comfortable beds would be a real plus! We may be renting a car, so parking would also be appreciated.

Having lived there, I have to note that it is quite a small town. If the bells are ringing, you'll hear them unless the windows have been upgraded. Nevertheless, the Hotel Bold is quite nice, has parking on-site, and has a good restaurant. But I can't vouch for the beds. I don't think I've ever slept in a German hotel that didn't have hard mattresses.

I've had good experiences staying at Gasthaus Richter twice. Short walk from train/bus station; just across the river from the Spielhaus.

Although the website is only in German, Frau Paula Richter speaks good English.

BTW, why did you post a question in a forum reserved for reviews? You should have posted this under "Germany" in the Destination Q&A forum. You might get more responses with an appropriately posted question.
