Nordlingen hotel “2nd Home Hotel” review.. (recommend)

We arrived late evening into Nordlingen and without a hotel. After walking all around town without any luck we drove out the Lopsinger Tor gate and just across the road found the “2nd Home Hotel”.. It is about a year old, modern, clean, comfortable, quiet and with plenty of free parking. It is priced in the $$ range. I would definitely stay here again.

In 2007, on my Romantic Road trip, I stayed in a Pension just outside Deininger Tor. The name was Pension Engel, and it was a great exerience; I would go back in a heartbeat. Pension Engel no longer appears on the map, but the operator, Eli Wenger, has started a new establishment, Wengers Brettl, on Lopsinger Str, about 500 ft inside Lopsinger Tor.

You must have gone right past it on Lopsinger Str. 2nd Home Hotel looks like a nice modern place, but I would prefer the charm of a traditional looking accommodation. Either way, I found Nördlingen a great town in which to spend a few days.

We did see some hotels downtown but they were either closed by the time we arrived or had attendants that weren’t at the desk and didn’t come when we rang the bell... our first choice would be to stay in the more historic areas... but this was a nice option and sure beat sleeping in our car 😁.
