Munich Hilton city center

High marks for room quality, price (summer sale 30% off), food, location, and easily accessible to public transportation.

This hotel has an entrance directly from the S-bahn station. We arrived in Munich by train and were at our hotel in 5 minutes. You can walk to the central area of town in 10 minutes. We were still in jet-lag recovery phase and appreciated a good night's sleep here. Our rate included breakfast and we were treated to the most amazing breakfast buffet I have ever seen. I would gladly stay here again.

" I have had my eye on the Hilton by the English Garten, but the public transportation (which we rely on heavily) there seemed awfully sparse."

The webpage for the Hilton Park has instructions for using public transportation to the hotel.

Bus 54, from Ostbahnhof, stops directly in front of the hotel. For a shorter bus ride, you can also catch bus 54 (in the opposite direction, towards Ost) at the Giselastrasse U-Bahn stop (2 stops from Marienplatz on the U3/U6 lines). So, to get to town from the Hilton, take the 54 bus from in front of the hotel to the U-Bahn station at Giselastrasse, then the U-Bahn to Marienplatz.

It's a 3 minute walk to the Hilton from the Tivolistrasse stop on the #18 tram from Isartor (There's an S-Bahn station at Isartor).

I've been using Trivago for finding great hotel deals. I found out that not all sites offers the same thing. For example, in my hotel in Budapest, Trivago listed the same hotel with different prices, some included breakfast for the same price.

Munich is very pedestrian friendly, and I've stayed near the train station and the city center. Easy access to everything you need.

I stayed at the Munich Hilton City Center when we went to the Christmas Markets in 2010,loved the fact that you could catch the S-Bahn without going out into the cold until you got to your destination.Great Hotel and service.
