We just returned from Frankfurt, where we stayed at the Motel One Frankfurt-Römer. This seems to be part of an expanding chain of modern hotels. It is well located and just a few blocks from the Old Town center with a tram stop right in front. Our room was small but very clean and comfortable and the AC worked well. We were disappointed there was no mini-fridge in the room.
Motel One can be a very good option - I stayed at one in Berlin and found it very pleasant, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was great and the location was right next to the Hbf.
I stayed at one in Glasgow and was pleasantly surprised.
It’s our go to chain, especially in Germany where they started. If you need a well positioned, affordable hotel with some amenities like AC in the summer I recommend them too. We stayed at the Frankfurt Römer one in May and liked it too.
I saw one in Cologne this weekend right near where I was staying and thought it looked nice ! I wish I would have read this thread before then !
Glad to hear it as we’ll be there in 4 weeks!
I like staying at Motel One. I know the location will be convenient at a reasonable price. The rooms typically have nice storage and bedside electric outlets, some locations with USB charging.
I love Motel One. I've stayed at their hotels in Frankfurt, Bremen, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Munich, Berlin, Vienna, and London. Every stay has been great.
My COVID-boredom Motel One post, written when the Reviews section was so little used that there were often not 5 recent posts listed on the Forum's main page: https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/germany-reviews/motel-one-a-not-so-soulless-hotel-chain
