I would suggest the big beer garden in the Viktualienmarkt...very good food , decent prices. No credit cards. The sign says so. No problems since the cash was on me anyway. Went there last summer after the lunch crowd had diminished a bit so that a seat could be had. I would definitely return.

You can certainly ask for a review of a restaurant here. See quote from description below. > Germany Reviews: Hotels & Restaurants > Share — and ask for — hotel & restaurant reviews

Having said that, this forum is not as heavily frequented as the regular Germany forum, so it's usually more productive to ask a question about a hotel or restaurant there. :-) That said, I ate once at Zum Brünnstein, a traditional Bavarian restaurant about a half mile from the square and enjoyed my meal there very much. It has a patio as well so you can eat outside and enjoy people watching. https://www.zum-bruennstein.de/

You didn't tell us which cuisine you would like to eat.

If you are looking for a Bavarian restaurant, the “Klingelwirt” is just around the corner at Rosenheimer Platz.
If you are looking for a larger beer hall with a beer garden, the “Hofbräukeller am Wiener Platz” is a 10-minute walk away, “Paulaner am Nockherberg” about 15-20 minutes.

Otherwise, there are many restaurants and pubs around Roseneimer Platz in the direction of Weißenburger Platz and Orleans Platz. There is something for every taste.

The only thing I can add is that we spent five nights in Munich during Oktoberfest last year.
We had wonderful dinners at these three restaurants; we ate twice at the last one; we wanted to concentrate on Bavarian food and each restaurant delivered in full, with Wonderfull food and impeccable service at a very good value.

Around Rosenheimer Platz, you'll find cuisines from many different countries. It's really a question of what you like.

The mentioned 'Klingelwirt' is interesting because it serves Bavarian cuisine, but all organic. OK, you can tell by the price, but at least you're eating a happy pig.

The Italian restaurant 'Giorgia Trattoria' right on Rosenheimer Platz is also very popular.

There's an authentic Chinese restaurant 'XiangJu' around the corner, which my Asian colleagues really appreciate, and I do too.

And not to forget, my favorite beer garden, the 'Hofbräukeller Biergarten', is located on Wiener Platz, not far from Rosenheimer Platz. You'll also find many small market stalls at Wiener Platz as well with great food – a mini version of the large Viktualienmarkt.

I can also recommend the mentioned 'Zum Brünnstein'. This is a truly Bavarian restaurant and has nothing in common with the touristy restaurants in the old town.

A little further away, but still in Haidhausen district, you'll find my favorite pizzeria 'L'angolo della Pizza' and the sensationally good Portuguese restaurant, 'Dona Linda'.

And if it has to be Augustiner beer (Munich's best beer), I would recommend the Haidhauser Augustiner at Wörthstrasse 35.

And not to forget the authentic French bakery on Pariser Platz 'Les Deux Messieurs' – heavenly.

And if you're hungry for Spanish tapas, I can recommend 'El Perro'.

That's enough, because no one can eat that much :-) Please let me know if you have any questions.
