hotels in Dusseldorf

When in Düsseldorf I stayed in Hotel Bismarck, a 3 star place, ca. a minute or so across from the Düsseldorf central station. It's a nice charming place, very old school, projects a genteel image, good breakfast buffet, not lavish, have stayed here several times. I don't know about the kitchen factor.

I don't prefer staying in Düsseldorf anymore, nothing wrong at all about Hotel Bismarck.

Now I rather stay in Dortmund right in the train station area, cheaper and a bit more luxury relative to the price compared to Hotel Bismarck, plus better train connections, day and night.

If you want something with a kitchen, try looking on Booking.com, you can sort by that amenity, or what you might need (refrigerator, microwave, etc) as well as number of beds.

In Dusseldorf the old town is a bit away from the main train station, so you have several areas you could pick, depending if you want to be in the old town, near the river, near the station for trains, or in other neighborhoods. Each has it's advantages.

There is an Adina Apartment Hotel adjacent to the Hbf.

If you're planning to spend a few days in Düsseldorf, I'd also look at how close the hotel is to a U-Bahn or S-Bahn station. The public transport is excellent, so staying a little outside the busiest areas can often get you a nicer hotel for the same price while still making it easy to get around.

I booked the Adina apartment hotel by the train station for an upcoming visit to Dusseldorf. We are a group of 4 (two college aged kids, two parents) so the two bedrooms were needed.
Not sure how charming it will be, but it seems to be a good choice because we'll be using the train a good bit to get to some of the activities we'll be doing.

I stayed at the Adina Dusseldorf earlier this month.

Due to some maintenance and noise issues, I was given a two bedroom apartment even though I was traveling solo. Mine was on the second floor.

A few things....the rear bedroom looks out onto the train tracks. With the window closed, you will hear nothing. The A/C is okay.

The room is very warm because it is above the kitchens of the restaurant below. But it is surprisingly quiet. The living room window looks out over the police station.

One strange thing. Next to the bed in the rear bedroom is a light switch that turns the room light on and off. However, for some strange reason it also turns on the lights in the bathroom in the front bedroom.
