Hey, for everyone else's information, there are two Deutscher Kaiser Hotels in Baden Baden. Initially, I used Deutsche Kaiser's website to make a reservation, but received no confirmation. Consequently, I used the email address in the Rick Steves 2014 Germany book and made a reservation which was then confirmed.
We have now received notice that BOTH hotels are charging us.

I would try to explain the situation and state you were confused since there are 2 hotels with the same name. Hopefully, the one you don't want to stay at will cancel your reservation and void any charges. Since you haven't been to Baden Baden I can't imagine they would still insist on charging you. You could also contest it with your credit card company.
Thank you for your reply. We have now had several emails with Herr Peter and our charges have been reversed. The problem could have been corrected at the Merkur location. We had no reservation yet they never mentioned there was another hotel, also run by a family, in Baden Baden. While the Merkur location is very nice, we feel they could have corrected this problem by telling us of the dual names. However, they had rooms open for two nights and we stayed. Thank you!
