My wife and I will be in Regensburg for two nights at the end of September. Will take a train from there to Prague when we leave. Would like an excellent hotel near the tourist sites but quiet.
This past April, we stayed at the Hotel Orphee GroBes Haus, with a Moulin- Rouge theme, about a block from the TI, very centrally located, and quiet. Breakfast was included, but it was not a buffet. The room was large, vintage decorations, modern bathroom, good wi-fi, and quite charming. I believed we used Chase Sapphire points, so the price was right. You could walk from the train station, but it's uphill, and a maze. An 8Euro taxi was much easier. Shops were closed on the Monday we were there, which surprised me.
Have a great trip !
Thank you. This is helpful.
also - do a search for this in the SEARCH bar and consider reposting this in the GERMANY section for more answers - you have it posted in the REVIEWS section which is really a place for YOU TO POST A REVIEW of someplace you've been. More eyes will see this question if you post it in the GERMANY section. We love Regensburg - be sure and eat at Europes oldest Sausage House and visit the mustard store in town.
This past May, we stayed at Hotel Weidenhof, between the train station old town. We, too, got on a train to Prague from there!
The hotel, which we booked through hotels.com, was really nice and quiet. Room was surprisingly large! Regensburg is a great place; my wife lived there for a year before we met. Kafe Dada is a great little restaurant over by the river.
Prague was amazing.
Shops were closed on the Monday we were there, which surprised me.
April 18? Easter Monday, a nationwide public holiyday.
The Monday that shops were closed was not adjacent to Easter .
