Hotel Isartor in Munich

We stayed at this hotel 12/3/15 - 12/8/15 and could not have been happier. We found the hotel in Rick's Munich handbook (not in the Germany guide) and gave it a try. In short, this is a fantastic place to stay for almost any reason you can come up with. It is five minutes from a tram stop as well as from an S bahn station; Mariensplatz is an awful ten minutes away. Reception is manned 24/7 and the staff are all fluent in English as well as fluent in excellent restaurant and shopping suggestions. Furthermore, they also walk you through riding the S and U bahns as well as which tickets to buy. The breakfast is as good as any we've had in Europe and includes much more than a croissant and juice -- cold cuts, cheeses, cereals, breads, pastries, yogurts. Our room was cleaned daily and maintained in excellent condition. Although it is east of Mariensplatz, the location is excellent for touring or (Christmas market) shopping. When we go back we will always check availabilities here before any other hotels.
