Spending weekend in Koln between Netherlands and Paris on a business trip, hanging out with friends 19 Jan near the Dom. Traveling alone on business trip so looking for secure hotel but preferably not over $150/night. Stayed at City Class in 2016, but looking for a different spot. Friends there don't stay at hotels as they live nearby, so looking for any recommendations.

Any weekend specials available at the Dorint, down towards the river and the chocolate museum? Very nice - may be over budget, but if there is a special you may luck out.
By combining German in your question title I thought you wanted information about a particular hotel.
By the way, if you can't make the umlaut work - Köln - you can add the e - Koeln - and both will be correct. No umlaut and Koln isn't correct.
I usually stay a little further out so the Dorint was a special for me. There's also the Ibis at the Dom and Hbf. You won't get much closer.

A couple of years ago, stayed 2 nights at the Wyndham Koeln, which is on Breslauer Platz, opposite side of the Hbf from the Dom. Very nice, modern, with bar and gym. More like $100/night unless there is a big trade show going on.
