Please help me find a mid priced hotel close to the Hamburg train station. My husband and I are going October 19 and had to plan quickly due to family issues. We would like one that isn't part of a chain and has a more personal feel but at this late date we can't be that picky. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Hi,
I have stayed a number of times close the Hamburg Hbf, from cheap to moderate. In Hamburg that's the area I prefer staying. I would suggest Hotel Fürst Bismarck on Kirchenallee., just across the street from the train station, take the Kirchenallee exit from the station. I stayed there twice.
Another one though I've only checked it out also recommendable is Hotel Graf Moltke, down the block at a corner, also facing the station. Neither one is part of a chain.
