Going to take a side trip to Fussen to see Neuschwanstein Castle before the RS Munich, Salzburg & Vienna tour next Spring and would like some recommendations on a hotel in Fussen. Thank you in advance. Mchsauceda

We stayed 2 nights at Hotel Fantasia. We liked it. Very friendly, good breakfast, cheap and close to the bus station. And they provided bus pass.

Schwangau Horn is the little village across the meadow from the castles with mixed views of them particularly at night. Bike paths and pastures dot the area along with several very nice hotels. Our favorite is the Hotel Helmerhof and their wonderful restaurant.

you will enjoy fussen, we stayed at the hotel hirsch, very accomodating, the owner's first name is harold. it's in the town, and within walking distance of the sights. one day we rented bikes and rode around the lake. somewhat arduous but exhilirating. enjoy. nicholas

We stayed at the Aldstadt Hotel Zum Hechten last year on the RS Alpine Europe tour and really liked it. They have a very good restaurant as well. I highly recommend the pork knuckle.

Although I have never stayed in the town, I like the looks of Horn, and would suggest you stay there or in nearby Schwangau. The buses coming out from Füssen to Hohenschwangau stop around there. There are a lot of accommodations in these villages. Use Google Maps to find a place

Years ago, on a bus from Oberstdorf to see Neuschwanstein, I went through the collection of villages called Pfronten, about 20 minutes from Füssen, and was so impressed, I've gone back three times to spend a few nights. When you stay there, with your kurtax you get a bus pass for the area with which you can go for free to Füssen and on to Neuschwanstein. Here is my favorite place to stay in Pfronten

We stayed at Hotel Fantasia in a family room with a family of 5 (mom/dad/grandpa/2 kids). Big room with a king bed and a triple bunk bed in a separate room. Hotel was nice, walking distance to most everything. Breakfast was great. The front desk gal was friendly when we checked in, but the lady in the evening not so much. Easy access in and out, went to the castle the palace the following day. Would certainly stay again.
