France/Gernany lodging near christmas markets

Hi travelers!
I'm a solo traveller visiting the christmas markets in France and Germany this year. Arriving: Dec 3 and departing Dec 11.
I plan on flying into Paris and taking the train to Colmar.
I will be visiting Colmar (and nearby villages) first for 4 nights and train to Strasbourg for 2 nights, then to Frankfurt for remaining 2 nights. I'd liked to find lodging near the Christmas markets in Colmar, Strasbourg and Frankfurt. I would also like to stay near the train station in Strasbourg. I am fit, carry a backpack and don't mind walking.
I would be comfortable spending $150-$200 or night for lodging. Do you have a favorite hotel that added enjoyment to your visit? I would appreciate any recommendations.

Thanks so much!

I think you will find it very challenging to find hotels in that budget, especially in Colmar. That is peak season, even more so than summer. We visited Colmar last July and stayed in an apartment. We loved it so much, in August we decided to take a trip for the Christmas markets. The apartment rate for December was three times what we paid in July. We ended up staying in Strasbourg at Citadines Kleber, which was perfect for us. I really don’t think you need to change hotels between Colmar & Strasbourg. They are 30 minutes apart by train. The markets in Colmar are mostly along the Grand Rue.

We stayed in Frankfurt for one night at Motel One Romer, about a block from the markets. Saw all the Frankfurt markets in less than 3 hours. I encourage you to stay in Cologne instead. The markets are so much better, and there are at least 5 of them. We stayed 3 nights at CityClass Alter Markt. There is a direct train from Cologne to FRA in 50 minutes, if you are flying out of there in the afternoon.

We stayed at a working winery in Colmar. It was a bit quirky, quite reasonable and price included breakfast. Its been a while (maybe 8 years) but the price was well under 100 euro. Right in the center of town. We loved it.

We are staying at the Hotel Turenne in December. It's one of the RS recommendations. We have previously stayed at Hotel St. Martin which is in a great location. I went ahead and booked a non refundable room at the Turenne as they were charging less than 1/2 of what other better located hotels are charging. Hotel Turenne is about a 6 minute walk from the "petite Venice" area.

The Place de la Gare in Strasbourg is lined with hotels. The location makes it very easy to drop your luggage and walk to the various Christmas markets. We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Arok but it may not meet your price range. Strasbourg is popular that time of year and the hotel prices reflect it.
