Not sheshe foo foo fancy pancy unless that is something we can't miss and just should go for it Looking more for very nice not strictly formal Foodies looking for good food and then to do watchman walk before or after dinner even hold in the wall would be good if food superb but was thinking off sit down service with alcohol 😜

Several years ago we had lunch (not dinner) at Glocke Hotel / Wine Bar. They had a special at that time that allowed one to sample five of their own wines (they have a local winery) with lunch. Really good food and great wines. Google it and see what you think.

I have to put in a plug for the Gasthof Goldener Greifen, which is very near the Market Square. We enjoyed a wonderful, moderately-priced meal there, but even more than that we found the staff at the restaurant to be exceptional. I had recently injured my shoulder and was wearing a makeshift sling. Our waitress noticed that, asked about it and then said she could bring me a bag of ice to put on it. Shortly after, the manager (owner?) also stopped by to see if she could help. She brought me some pain relieving cream and spray to try. You know, it would be easy to be callous to guests in a tourist town like Rothenburg, but everyone we dealt with there was friendly and helpful. The folks at the Gasthof Goldener Greifen went way beyond even that, and we were very touched. And the food was great!
