Best place to stay in Fuessen and is a drive to Cologne from Munich better or a flight?

I am traveling with a 14 year old daughter before going to Cologne for a conference. She wants to see castles and I want to see Dachau which I realize is only 13 miles from Munich. I thought we'd fly into Munich, go to Dachau and then on to Fuessen. We'd stay in Fuessen to see the castles and then go to Cologne.

Must see places on journey and very nice hotel or B&B in Fuessen or nearby?

Thanks to Rick, he recommended flying into Munich.

Off the top of my head, I would estimate the drive, in ideal traffic conditions, would take about 5-6 hours without stops. You have multiple routes you can take, all of which offer plenty of interesting en route sight-seeing options. You could do it all in one day, but there's so many possibilities and not much time to stop, so you may want to consider breaking up the trip with an overnight stop. At an absolute minimum, I would consider checking out the scenic Mittelrhein, which would offer your daughter chances galore to see castles. Doing the drive in one day, however, wouldn't leave you enough time to do more than drive by, with perhaps only one or two quick stops.

Bavaria Ben has a bunch of B&B's listed around Fuessen and in the Mosel Valley just south of Cologne:

He has a very good website on traveling throughout Germany and Austria.
I hope you've got adequate time to spend in Munich as there are so many tourist sights to see and so many things to do there.
