Best Hotel Motel One in Berlin?

I’ve only stayed in one Motel One in Berlin - a last-minute booking at the Tiergarten hotel. Nice hotel but I didn’t like the West Berlin location.

I haven’t stayed at the others, but after a couple of trips to Berlin, and a quick look at the Motel One website, I think Hackescher-Markt would be my top choice. However I haven’t stayed here - just thought about it for a future trip.

I stayed at the Motel One right by the Central train station in Berlin, and loved that location! It was so convenient because it was just a block away from the station. The hotel itself was very nice. The service was great, the rooms were very clean and comfortable and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

It was nice, too, because as convenient as it was to the train station, it was also in a relatively quieter area, so there wasn’t a lot of congestion or traffic there.

For what it’s worth, I would also stay at the Hackescher Markt location. I have not stayed at the Motel One there, but I have stayed there at another hotel and really liked that location a lot.

A couple of weeks ago we stayed at the Motel One in Potsdamer Platz. We were happy with it and it was close to public transport. It is located basically in the Mall of Berlin, which could be good or bad depending on your point of view. We liked having access to the Food Court for a quick meal one night and it also had a grocery store. Walkable to the Reichtag and other sights as well.

Barbara, isn't the Potsdamer Platz one pretty close to the train station, too?

In May, I stayed at the Motel One Berlin Upper West. It was great. It has a 10th-floor lounge with a large outdoor area that had great views of the city. It's a block or two from the Zoologischer Garten train station, so close to transportation. It is almost adjacent to Breitscheidplatz, where one of the Christmas markets is located. I think it was my 8th Motel One (including the Berlin location near the Hbf [main train station]); it was by far my favorite.

I stayed at the one by Berlin Hauptbanhof a few years ago, around Christmas. Like the location, very convenient. The room was bigger.

Well if I remember correctly, it’s very close to the Potsdamer Platz train station, not the Central train station. We felt the hotel was well placed, transportation-wise.

Motel One has several hotels in Berlin, Berlin Hbf, Alexanderplatz, two near bahnhof Zoo, Tiergarten, etc. My experience is only limited to that opposite of Berlin Hbf this summer and last summer.

No complaints, very nice, seems to appeal to more younger guests. Of course, I would stay there close to Berlin Hbf again.
