Rick Steves' recommended Berlin hotel, Pension Peters, is still a gem! We received great service from Annika and Uwe while we were there in June 2015 - we had packed days of sight-seeing and they helped us get efficiently from spot to spot. Breakfast was a typical, delicious German buffet spread with a fun coffee machine (that turns out, is also quite typical of German and Austrian hotels and to-go cafes!). While the location in the West requires utilizing public transportation to get to tourist sites, it's a quiet and comfortable neighborhood, even for walking in the evening.
