I'm taking my 17 YO son to Berlin for the first time. We will be there 3 nights. I'm looking for advice on a hotel that isn't too pricey and put us in an interesting part of town and somewhat close to public transportation.
Thanks

While its a little pricey Myer's Hotel https://www.myershotel.de/de/ in Prenzlauerberg is near Transportation and in a great neighborhood with many sidewalk cafes in walking distance. The rooms are spacious, clean, modern and the staff is very helpful.
My vote is for Pension Peters in the Savignyplatz neighborhood. Decent prices including breakfast, great staff, lots of restaurants and bars in the neighborhood. Transport includes the M49 bus in front of the hotel to the nearby Zoologisches Garten Bahnhof (also walkable at about 5 or 6 blocks), or the Savignplatz S-Bahn, or the Uhlandstrasse U-Bahn station on the Kurfuerstendamm about 3 blocks away.
We have been very happy with Hotel Pension Columbus, in the same general area and price range as Pension Peters -- but Columbus has an elevator.
Thanks so much.
I like the Myers hotel too. Nice hotel, good neighborhood, close to the subway in one direction and trams in the other.
