We spent three nights at the Hotel Im Malerwinkel in Bacharach and it is very conveniently located above the town with on sight parking.The breakfast was the typical German spread with rolls,cold cuts,cheeses and jams and was good.The rooms were decent size and the shower was good.I would stay there again.

Just about every place to stay in Bacharach is good. It's a wonderful city to spend the night in, and would be a good location to do day trips along the Rhine River. But since the town's less than 1/2 mile long, it's not a destination city.

Absolutely correct that Bacharach is not a destination city buy we day tripped to Boppard,Oberweisel,Remagen,Marksburg,St Goar,St Goarhousen,Rheinfels,Bingen etc,so it worked well for us.

I've never stayed there, but I stumbled on it in 2004. Im Malerwinkel is in an absolutely beautiful setting. And it's far away from the train tracks.
