Adina Apartment Hotel Berlin Hackescher Markt

My 2023 RS Germany guide book has this to say about the Hackescher Markt area in Berlin: "Unfortunately, there's a dearth of recommendable hotels in this area; all three listed are bigger than they are charming."

To me, a huge component of "charm" is a universally friendly and helpful staff. We arrived at the Adina Apartment Hotel Berlin Hackescher Markt late, and I mentioned to the front desk clerk that we were starving and would be out looking for food after we checked in. He s said, "I'll take care of your bags, go eat now and check in after you eat". He gave us the easy directions to the lively Hackescher Markt, where most, if not all, of the restaurants were still open. This level of service continued throughout our entire stay - at times offering more help than we needed.

The breakfast buffet is extra, and nothing is made to order. We were down for breakfast as soon as it opened, and with the exception of hash brown potato patties on one day, everything was at least warm. There was some variation in the daily offerings.

Our studio "apartment" was actually pretty big, laid out "shotgun" style with a small kitchen, with dinnerware, a few pots and pans, a 2 burner stove, microwave, sink, refrigerator, and even a small dishwasher. I don't know if there was a conventional oven - didn't look. There was a desk and chair next to the closet at the back of the room. We had a sofa, a small dining table, and good-sized tv. The mattress was nice and firm.

The bathroom had a walk-in shower with half a door. Just make sure the shower is pointing down and away from the wall.

The carpet was clean and odorless, although there were a few stains, as mentioned in some reviews. Maybe that qualifies as charm!

I will be writing a trip report soon, but I wanted to post a rave review of this hotel as soon as I got home.

I stayed there in 2022 and really liked the hotel. As you noted, the staff was very helpful and nice, and like yours, my studio apartment was a decent size. I especially liked the location, as you could walk so many different places and there was great public transportation there. You could jump on the S-Bahn and go directly to the airport. There were a lot of restaurants in the area as well, and grocery shops, even two wine shops. I would definitely stay there again.

By the way, I don't know if you're aware, but the hotel was actually used in the series called The Flight Attendant on HBO. There is at least one or more scenes showing it. Somebody told me about that before I stayed there, and I still haven't seen the series, but I'm assuming that he was correct. 😊

We stayed in the same Adina two weeks ago. We were in Room 813 which has a balcony and a view of the ubiquitous Berlin TV Tower. We loved being close to the Hackescher Markt.

I liked it in 2021. My room was like yours. Staff were friendly and helpful. I didn't care for the breakfast, after the first day I went around the corner to a bakery. Around the block was a small grocery, and there were about half a dozen restaurants at the Markt. The location was ideal for me, close to the museums, both H and S Bahns, starting point for a good walking tour. The S Bahn goes directly to and from the airport in one direction, and to and from Potsdam in the other.

Stayed there in 2025. Great location for us. We skipped the hotel breakfast. Step out the front door of the hotel and turn left. Walk to the corner of the hotel building and your find an outstanding coffee and pastry shop Sit on one of the little tables out front and watch the commuters headed to the station. Open really early. Great coffee and pastries for a couple of euros.

Tim - That bakery really looked good! I need several cups of coffee every morning, so a hotel buffet makes economic sense for us,
