ZTL zones in little wine route villages Alsace?

I rented a car for the day, which was probably not a good idea. My GPS led me to a parking lot in the heart of Ribeauville. Ironically, I didn’t feel comfortable parking there anyway because all the spaces were so tiny. Eventually, just by luck I found an area, but I’m wondering if I’ll get ticketed for driving through the touristy area. Does anyone know? Thank you!

I don’t recall any no drive areas in Ribeauville. My guess is you’ll be fine. We walked there from Hunawihr.

I look up free parking lots in towns before visiting them and mark them on Google maps. Most lots in that area are outside the historic center and you just walk the few minutes. That generally avoids any pedestrian only/no drive areas.

Thank you for responding so quickly! I’d much rather park in free parking outside the heart of it all and just walk into town. I’m not sure I even want to try Riquewihr now.

We were just there with a car
No ZTLs to worry about

Park at a lot just outside the village

Riquewihr was our favorite village

All parking in Riquewihr is outside the historic center and is pay parking. I couldn’t find any free parking anyplace close to the historic center. When we were there in May, even all the pay spots were full, so we just kept driving.

I ended up heading back to Strasbourg, but I’m satisfied with that decision. I’ve been walking 24-30,000 steps for the past few days, so I’m actually relaxing in my little apartment now. I’m learning a lot about what works and doesn’t work for me on this trip. Turns out I really do prefer a slower, more relaxed trip. 😊 I’m still having a wonderful time and I’m amazed by how beautiful everything is!

Wise decision. Those Alsatian villages, cute as they are, can start to feel "samey" after the first 2, especially if you don't have much time to explore.
