My wife and I spent a night there a few years ago. It's quite beautiful but very touristy. One night is plenty to see it.
Here's my blog entry that includes our visit. There are several pictures of Yvoire near the end of the first blog entry.

Two summers ago my wife and I took the ferry from Nyon (just across the lake) to Yvoire. It was very much geared toward tourists, but we thought it was about the most adorable small town we have seen. There are only a few streets, but the buildings are (that I can remember) all medieval or thereabouts (maybe to 1680?), and there were gorgeous flowers everywhere. What I remember most is the contrast of the brilliant flowers against the cool greys of the stone buildings. We thought it was well worth the trip. The boat ride is very nice too, as is the beer at the restaurant by the landing :-)
I want to thank you for your replies,we are going to day trip it from Annecy or Chaminoux because we have more time there than we do in Lausanne.
