Yet another hotel recommendations post

Going down the rabbit hole of finding a hotel for a 4-night stay in Paris. Mostly looking in the 7th Arrondissement, but not locked in. Have narrowed it down to these 4, but still open to others. Can anyone comment on staying at any of the following:

Hotel de Varenne
Hotel Le Derby Alma
The One Alma Paris
Hotel Bourgogne & Montana

Thanks in advance!

It’s been a looong time since we stayed at the Hotel de Varenne, so I checked out recent reviews on Booking.com. The reviews are recent (unlike other hotel reviews I’ve looked at at recently) and seem to uniformly agree with our experience. While our room wasn’t huge, it was large enough to accommodate luggage and us without tripping over anything and there was a small fridge. The location was great for The Rodin Museum, Des Invalides and the Varenne metro station. The Invalides metro was also an easy walk. The staff was excellent and had a map of restaurants in the area. We now have access to the French military hotel or we would have continued to stay there.

I stayed at Hôtel De Varenne about 10 years ago. Maybe someone will answer who has stayed there more recently. In the meantime, it was an excellent hotel. The manager at the time that I stayed was the most polished (very old world and courtly) person that I have ever met. I still remember him and it has been 10 years. The staff was excellent. I am not a big antiques person but even so I liked the decor of this hotel -- everything was impeccably clean and it felt like I was staying in a French person house where all the pieces of furniture were antiques that were sturdy and really well cared for. And it is near Cafe de Varenne (10-minute walk) which is a really good spot for a meal with an exceptional host/owner.

I stay in the 7th and the 2 hotels I stay in most are Hotel Muguet on Rue Chevert and Hotel Relais Bosquet on Rue du Champ de Mars. In an upcoming trip I am spending a few nights at Hotel l'Empereur where I haven't stayed since before Covid. It is owned by the same hotel group as Hoel Relais Bosquet. I've got a room overlooking the Dome of Les Invalides which is beautiful lit at night.

Also be careful that you are on the official hotel websites. I am on both of these websites frequently and yet, the other day I wound up on another booking site for Hotel Relais Bosquet. I knew immediately it was wrong because the picture was not correct BUT if you weren't familiar with the official site you'd not know.

I also was on another hotel website where I've stayed many times before in the same neighborhood and when it got down to booking realized they've changed their policy and now their 3-night special price has the 1st night billed immediately and is non-refundable. I noped out of that pretty quickly.
