Our time in the are is limited... What's the fastes way from annecy to chamonix?
I always opt for spending more time in one place rather than barely scratching the surface of two. I haven't been to Annency but Chamonix is wonderful! We've been back several times and plan to go back again. If you like the outdoors, hiking, skiing, mountaineering and such, you'll love it. The scenery is spectacular!
Yes. Spending 2 nights in Chamomix will allow more opportunity to go up if weather or visibility is poor on your first day. Chamomix is lovely. Can't say about Annecy as I've never been, but I understand wanting to see both. I don't regret having had more time in Chamonix at the expense of missing Annecy. There is much to see and do in the area. The good food and wine in the region deserves 2 dinner outings as well!
Yes, I like both places, but if you have only two nights pick one....
Kim... when are you going to be traveling? I am traveling in late May and would like to go to Chamonix. I have posted here on what the weather is like and the availability of hiking in Chamonix at that time of year. The cable car to the Aiguille di Midi is open, but alpine hiking is a question. The snowpack must linger until June, which makes sense since Mt Blanc is over 12,000 feet. The town/village of Chamonix should be OK.
