We are a family of five wanting to travel to France over Winter Break with kids aged 16, 14 and 9 years old. Asking for advice!
- We've done Paris, Strasbourg and Colmar, and my husband and I have done Normandy and MSM, but the kids haven't. - Currently looking at Reims, Lyon, Dijon, Avignon, Bordeaux, thinking maybe we can pop over into Switzerland for a bit. - We'd prefer to take the train, but if the right opportunity presents itself, we are open to renting a car as long as we rent it OUTSIDE of Paris. :) - Our oldest wants to practice her French, so we'd like to hit up some smaller towns. - Would (probably) like to be in a city on Christmas Day and/or New Year's Day so we have some options. - We travel with just our backpacks, so we will need to stay in hostels and/or rentals with laundry facilities. Thanks everyone!
Hi. I noticed that you wrote that you had done Strasbourg. May I ask if you did it at Christmastime? My husband and I are contemplating a stay over Christmas, including the actual day (12/25). We're just not sure if things will be open, etc. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I'm about to post this message in the general forum, as well.
Highly recommend Strasbourg for the Christmas markets, but don't think they are open on Christmas Day.
