So...our wine and war trip is not so easy to plan and fit everything in. We arrive via train in Amboise from Normandy...are there wineries we can visit in Amboise that day if we arrive by 1pm? The next day, we travel to Chenonceau and Chambord, but perhaps we might limit it to one chateau and visit wineries the rest of the day. I'm leaning that way. We won't be renting a car, so it would have to join a tour that combines both. So, two questions...are there wineries close by in Amboise...I see them on a map...and have you taken a tour that combines one of the chateaux with wine...I know there are some, but your reaction on how that went...Thanks!
I have the same question. Visiting the Loire Valley and need to break-up the castle-ing.
I just came to the forum to ask this very question. I'm looking for a quaint winery in the vicinity of Amboise to break up the Chateau visits. While my husband and I could visit two castles a day for a week, we'll be travelling with our kids and their respective spouses (all 30 somethings) and I want to find something a bit different for them.
We may decide to not visit Loire after all. I'd like to visit the Chateau, but we've been to Versailles(would love to go back too), and I know, these are different chateaus! We'll be going to Bordeaux after Loire, and then onto Cognac, then Alsace, then Lucerne, then Champagne, then Burgundy then fly home via Paris... but my adult son has less time, and wants to spend some time in Paris, so I told him, if you want to skip Loire and go with us to Cognac then go to Paris, so be it. We're retired teachers, so we're the ones with time on our hands, not regular folk with the standard 2 weeks vacation time. Can't believe we'll get to so many cool places including Normandy on this trip, all via the trains and one plane.
I'm bumping this to the top to see if anyone has any ideas for a winery that takes visitors in the Loire, near Amboise. Thanks
