My husband and I will be spending 2 nights and 1.5 days in Beaune this May. We would like to visit one or 2 wineries if time allows. I have read about Bouchard Pere et Fils and Patriache Pere et Fils but have no idea if we should choose these or others. We will have a car. I'm hoping to receive thoughts. We are definetly appreciate wine but are not official connoisseurs:) Thoughts please?
following. Will be in the area in the Fall as well.
OK, we were there in August last year.
Definitely go to both of those in the town of Beaune. You might check out Louis Jadot.
Sign up for the half day tour and you will have a great time getting out into the vineyards and tasting some wonderful wine. Here is the tour we took https://www.burgundy-tourism-safaritours.com/en/public-tours.html
You can do all this without needing a car. If you want to get around the vineyards, rent a bike and have a great time meandering through the vineyards.
I tend to avoid large negociants, and Jadot, Bouchard and Patriarche are in that category. I visited Patriarche many years ago, and thought it was a terrible experience. However, if you want to stay in Beaune, I'm not sure you have too many other choices. The suggestion of a 1/2 day tour outside Beaune is a good one, or look for info through the tourist office to do your own tour.
