We are in Paris over Bastille day and have a totl of 8 days there. I enjoy fine wines. We are not looking to head out to the vinyards but within travel distance of subway is there any sort of tour that is educational on french wines. I'd welcome any comments but I would like to know more about the regional differences (ie bordeau vs burgundy). If there is something that is really great and is outside of the territory of the subway how can one easily visit the suggested venue?
I don't think there is any facility within the Metro system. You would have to take a train to at least Reims - and that would be only for champagne.
You might try OChateau, in Paris, which has informative classes or try ParisByMouth's wine and cheese tour.
Both are very popular, so you will have to reserve in advance.
You can check out this website. I have no idea how much they cost but they are well reviewed.
I did a tour a few years ago with the company Nancy linked. Not cheap but really informative, the owner/guide makes a point of educating about wine making. Highly recommend it.
Yes, but the OP did not want to go beyond the Metro system...
An American ex pat now French citizen runs a nice wine oriented tour called Parisbytheglass.com You might take a look at his website and see if this would appeal to you.
Ô Chateau for a wine and cheese lunch. Educational and delicious in a great setting. You'll learn a lot.
