Will we be able to eat on a Sunday?

Hi at the end of our trip (we’re in Austria right now) we will be in Paris for 3 nights before return to the US. Our train gets into Paris on a Sunday night around 6 p.m. We will then get to the hotel maybe 1/2 hour later. We are vaccinated with CDC cards. We can’t test that night, even if we could find something open late on a Sunday night, because our flight transits the UK on Wednesday so our test needs to be 48 hours even though the US is 3 days. We’re planning to test Monday morning, then fill out all the UK transit paperwork that day. So will the CDC card get us dinner someplace Sunday night? Obviously we’ll have test results plus our CDC cards for Monday and Tuesday before we fly out Wednesday morning but all we will have Sunday night is CDC cards. Sure would be nice to be at a cafe with wine and food that night. Thoughts? Thanks

I think a decent number of places in Paris are accepting the CDC cards (as opposed to requiring the actual pass sanitaire/QR code). I know some are not because this afternoon I passed a restaurant that had signs up in its windows saying they require the QR code (and honestly I think I noticed it because it was such an exception). But based upon what other travelers have been reporting on the Forum, I think you will be able to find something.

Your other issue is just making sure if you have a particular place in mind, that you check beforehand to see if they are open Sunday evenings, because not everything is. but enough brasseries and things are open as Kerouac2 mentioned before that you will find something!

From what most people are finding who are in Paris is that the CDC card is working for restaurants. If you stumble on one that does not, move on down the block to the next one.

If you are really worried, you can pick up something at the train station but honestly, I'd not even worry.

That’s not an area with a lot open on Sundays. You may want to be sure to reserve, or go to the Montparnasse area where everything is open from burger places to Le Drome seafood, or metro St. Michel with crêperies and other kinds of restaurants, or to a giant Bouillon restaurant (Chartier or Pigalle) and get in line with others. Sunday is trickier but doable.

If it is something you're worried about, take a look at www.thefork.com and see what places allow reservations on that day. You'd be surprised how many are open.

Should you travel as far as St. Michel metro I can recommend Le Petit Chatelet for wood fired steaks. They are located next door to Shakespeare and Co. and are open every day with dinner starting at 19:00. Outdoor dining is available. We had our hotel make reservations for us.

They are also serving a luncheon set menu with wine and coffee for only 16.50 from noon to 14:30.

Thanks for the tips. We usually stay around the Pantheon and know places there by Rue Mofftard but we decided to try a new hotel in a new location this time, thus Les Invalides locale. Guess I will ask our hotel too. They already responded to my inquiry that there are two pharmacies near them that do the rapid Covid antigen for our return to LAX through LHR, which we will get Monday morning but just want to find a brassiere or cafe for dinner on Sunday with no pass Sanitaire or testing paperwork, just CDC cards.
