Hey guys I hv been reading a lot about how the south of france has been affected recently with wild fire. We are visiting St tropez in Sept 1st week. Can someone please throw some light on this. Thank you
Yes, the south of France has been hit in various areas by extreme heat and dryness. This is not unusual in August but the extent of the fires this year is greater.
You'll have to stay informed. A couple of news sites in English are thelocal.fr, the Guardian and TV France 24

There are a lot of fires but they're inland from the beaches in the dry hills - not unlike California wildfires this time of year. If you're staying on the coast, you're likely not to be affected by fire unless there is still smoke and the wind is coming from that direction.
