Which Paris hotel - Jeanne d'arc, Bonaparte or hotel des 3 colleges?

I have narrowed down to a shortlist of these three, starting with the least expensive:

  1. Hotel Jeanne D'Arc (Marais)
  2. Hotel des 3 Colleges (Latin Quarter near Luxembourg Gardens) 3.Hotel Bonaparte (St Germaine)

The locations all seem great as far as I can tell (never been to Paris). any feedback on the quality/cleanliness, noise levels, etc? Which would you pick or avoid, and why? Any similar suggestions you like better? I want to stay around $150/night or less, central location, lively area but not crazy loud. It will be summertime but I am ok with no AC. thank you!

I really like Jeanne d'Arc, although it's been a few years since I stayed and I've been there in the spring and fall, not in the summer. It's old and quirky, but was clean and comfortable. The location is amazing. It's on a tiny street, so you're unlikely to hear traffic noise. Obviously it's a neighborhood with lots of night life, although I don't remember noise presenting a problem, and my rooms faced the street. It doesn't have long hallways, so I don't remember lots of noise from other guests coming back at night.

I stayed at Jeanne d'Arc some time ago. It was as described in Rick's book, a good value for the money.
As with all Paris hotels, except the obvious corporate US-style ones, I would take a good look at the room photos, especially the bathroom photos, so that there are no surprises with respect to size of room, size of bathroom, and modernity of bathroom fixtures.

We stayed at the Jeanne d'Arc September 2010 and were pleased with our stay and found the Marais neighborhood convenient and walkable. I understand that the hotel was remodeled/upgraded since.

Rooms were urban size, small but livable in that we didn't lounge around in the room. Bathroom is ensuite but compact. It's Europe.

No A/C but not a problem in September.

Helpful and friendly staff (in 2010) and we don't speak French.

"Breakfast " available 5€ each back in 2010 was continental, but the cover was very good. Big enough to span through lunch.

There is a plaza of sorts nearby with a lot of night life but sound was not a problem. Of course our room was on the opposite side and an upper floor. Did hear some party noise from a neighbor building one (weekend?) night through our open window.

I'd stay again if I visited Paris again.

I was pricing hotels recently and noticed that at Jeanne d'Arc breakfast is now about $10 per person (8 euros), there don't seem to be too many hotel breakfasts in Paris these days for 5 euros.

I can only speak to Hotel Jeanne D'Arc, having stayed there fall of 2013. I love the place: a great price, comfortable room and bath (which looked recently remodeled to me), and superb location near Place du Marche Ste-Catherine and Place du Vosges. Very helpful staff. Fun decor.

There's a Basque restaurant (or was in 2007) in Place du Marche Ste-Catherine, practically next to Jeanne d'Arc, that I could recommend for dinner.
