I visited Lascaux 4 last October. I have not watched the video Kerouac refers to but as far as I can remember all the video special effects are at the end of the tour and in an area separate from the part where the paintings have been recreated. I don't remember any special effects on the guided tour when viewing the paintings.
I've not been to 2 as it was not open last fall so my tour just did 4.
Are you going to any other caves in the area?
