My husband and I will be in Paris April for about 2 weeks. In the past we have stayed in the 7th, 6th and 4th but that was at least 10 years ago. We prefer small boutique hotels definitely NOT American Holiday Inn type in the mid range price wise ($300-350) Public transport only We will do lots of walking and just enjoying the city. Any suggestions would be appreciated.I am afraid it might be busy as that is Easter time.
You'll be shocked at how hotel prices have skyrocketed. Perhaps with the Olympics build up, they were extra pricey. We were there in April, and it was hard to find anything less than 400 euro, but planning ahead helps. A week prior to our arrival, our hotel notified us that they had construction going that would impact us, (which is why I won't suggest them) so when I looked at prices a week out, the 400+ euro hotels were 700+.
But, people here have great suggestions. Someone recently mentioned Hotel des Marronniers Boutique Hotel, which I noted for the future. Looks like Parisian charm!
Given that you have stayed in the 7th, 6th, and 4th, how about a new area. Take a look at Hotel Bachaumont. It should be in your price range and is in a great area, around the corner from rue Montorgueil in the 2nd. I hope that you are going in early April. I was just helping a friend book rooms for April and the hotel he was looking at will go up over 100 euros per night on the Thursday before Easter Sunday and will stay higher until about April 23rd.
I just booked Hotel d’Angleterre in the 6th for 375€. That includes breakfast if you book through their website. It sounds perfect for what you’re looking for.
Hotel de la Bretonnerie in the Marais fits the bill.
One of my favorite hotel stays in Paris was Hotel Britannique. https://hotel-britannique.fr/en/
I know many are more at ease booking a hotel, however, were I staying in Paris for 2 weeks I would consider an apartment. It would be more comfortable overall and possibly more economical. While not the least expensive apartment rentals in Paris, Guest Apartment Service is one of the best and most trusted. I’ve had great experiences with them (as have many others here). They have many charming properties in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th.

Have a wonderful time!
Thanks to all of you for your quick responses!! I am looking them up immediately as it will be my 75th birthday and want it to be special.!!
Just a quick note to say that I join BJL in my love for l’Hotel Britannique. Hotel is charming, cute, and super clean. Staff are warm and helpful. And the location is SUPERB.
Last month I stayed at the Hotel Saint Christophe in the 5th. It’s central in the Latin Quarter, very reasonable, safe and walking distance to lots of great attractions. Rooms were small but clean and nice. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. As I really like that area, I would happily book it again.
