We are driving from St Michel to the Loire Valley and want suggestions on where to stay for the night Sunday night before heading to Orly to drop off our car.Amboise has been suggested
Thank you
Pat
I would second Amboise (in the east) or another option would be Chinon (in the west). . If you have a car you could do either. From Amboise you could try to visit Chambord or Chenonceau. 2 of my favorite chateaux's
Amboise will get you closer to Paris and Orly for your drop off.
Amboise or Blois would be good choices, or Orleans if you want to be closer to Paris. But, if you're flying out of Orly the same day you're dropping the car, I'd say get there the night before, or very close to the airport, unless the flight is late in the day. Give yourself plenty of time to arrive and check in before the flight.
Have you flown home from Europe before? I only ask so that you'll understand the need for 3-hour early arrival at the airport, plus car return and taking photos to refute later claims of damage, if you are using your credit card's coverage. I'm used to air departures before 10AM, although I know there are later trips back to the US-is that your destination? I would not drive in towards Paris during rush hour. Assuming you are flying coach, you should expect long check-in lines.
If you are looking for a nice place to stay near Amboise, we stayed out in the countryside but close very close to the city at a B & B http://www.leclosdelachesneraie.com/ You would need a car but it is so beautiful it would be a shame to only spend one night! A fabulous B & B!
Thanks I just emailed that B&B hoping they have availability. It will be just one night we are dropping car off but then taking the train to Paris. Sorry that I did not make that clear but I take all opinion for our flight out of Charles de Gaul we have a late flight to Ireland for a long needed family visit. Oh I can't wait. I have been sick for so long that I long for this trip
Thanks again
Pat
