I particularly remember that I enjoyed the historic/architecture walking route with a map provided by the tourist office. Also the Musee des Beaux Arts - free!

For a view over Dijon you can climb the “Tour de Philippe le Bon” next to the Musée des Beaux Arts.

we instead stayed near nearby Beaune and visited the Patriarch wine cellars (which are vast) and walked around this very quaint city. Try to get out into the countryside and see the beautiful vineyards and wineries, it's easiest with a car but Rick's guide has tour options. The Beaune hospice is a worthwhile tour

If you go, be advised that the little walkman devices they give you are out of sync with the numbered exhibits. We thought perhaps we had had too much wine with lunch until we figured out what was going on.

We stayed at an old winery B & B just down the highway from Dijon just outside of Beaune. GREAT food, wine, etc.

Beaune is a good day trip from Dijon, about 20-30 minutes by frequent train. The vineyards should be beautiful, you'll be around the end of the harvest. But with only two nights you'll have only one full sightseeing day, so you might want to focus on the Beaux Arts Museum and the old pedestrian center of Dijon. Enjoy a kir in the hometown of Canon Kir himself!

Thanks all! We will be on our 4th trip to Paris for 8 days before Dijon. In Dijon for 2 nights then off to join a Viking Cruise down to Avignon so we will be experiencing all your wonderful suggestions! I think we will focus on the museum and pedestrian center as the apartment Bets suggested is right there - I am going to talk to my husband about it when he gets in tonight!
