Where would the best place be to base yourself for three nights in Brittany. I will be travelling with my family from Amboise in the Loire valley. After Brittany we will be traveling on to Normandy and staying in Bayeux or Caen. Also do you have any suggestions of what we should do while in Brittany. We will have a car and we are a family of two adults and three children ages 12,10 and 8.

I haven't been to Brittany but I hear Fougeres (from a friend who has family there) is really nice. In Normandy, where I have been, I highly recommend staying in Bayeux instead of Caen.

I suggest Saint-Malo. It's a lovely, lovely city that's not far from the famous Mt. St.-Michel. It's a beautiful walled-in city, though somewhat touristy, but you really get a feel of Bretagne.

Suggest you have a look at Dinard as well as Erquy. Nice seaside resorts, not too big, lovely beaches. If you go much further west it would probably be too far out of your way.
