we are a family of four with young kids 10 and under. we'll be swinging by Annecy from Chamonix for two nights before heading home from Geneva airport. do you have any recommended lodging in Annecy - walkable to places as we won't have a car. any recommended eateries and things to do? it's been more than a decade since my husband and i were there - i just remember it was a beautiful town with a beautiful lake... thanks so much!

I really like Annecy. I believe I stayed at Hotel Splendid. I remember yummy raclette and fondue at Le Freti. I think I ate there 3 nights in a row. I also enjoyed taking a lake cruise.

I stayed at a downtown ibis which lacked charm but was clean and fine and fit the bill. Then you can spend your money on a boat ride for the family out on the lake, yummy meals, etc.
