Where to stay for 3 nights in Provence?

My husband and I will be road tripping through France for the last two weeks of June and would like to find a place to stay in Provence for 3 to 4 nights so we are located within driving distance to Arles, Avignon, and Aix-en-Provence. We will have a car and our budget is about $150 a night. What towns or villages would you recommend? We are hoping for something more "village-y" then the center of a town. Any specifics on B&Bs or AirBnBs, etc. would be great. Thank you!

We will be staying at Bastide Saint Didier which has very good reviews. It is near L'Isle sur la Sorgue. You might want to check out their website and see if it appeals to you.

I stayed in Saint Remy and enjoyed it. It's about 40 minutes to Arles or Avignon by car. I would still consider it a city.

For village-level options, consider any number of towns in the Luberon area next door. There are freaking tons of these little towns that define the Provence region. Gordes, Bonnieux, Menerbes, and Roussilion are just a handful. Sandstone houses, vines slowly expanding their reach, vineyards squeezed into small spaces. Have a look on GoogleMaps. They are all about 70 minutes by car from Arles or Avignon. Oh no! You'll have to spend hours driving around the countryside! In 2016 I had huge plans to tour the heck out of Arles and Avignon. I never got there. Towns like the ones I mentioned bullied their way to the front of the line.

There are tons of places, and since you will have a car, you will have lots of great choices. Airbnb has so many places to choose from. My husband and I spent about a week in La Ciotat this past fall. We had the good fortune to have been lent the use of an adorable and spacious apartment there. I think that, wherever you stay, you will be happy. My only suggestion is to stay in one place and then make day trips. It's such a pain to pack and move, and the driving (with a few exceptions) is not too terribly terrifying. Bon Voyage!
ps: there were so many highlights and lovely moments, but in particular, we loved Cassis. We happened upon a typical Provencal weekly market, took an amazing boat trip through the Calanques, and enjoyed a delightful lunch beside the sea.

Couldn't agree more with Fast Eddie reply! Headed there next week. Use Trip Advisor for locating top-rated properties from folks just like us that are discriminating. Try to filter or search all of Provence region instead of just one town or village, where a B&B may be "#1 of 1." Much better to see #25 of 250 in Provence" or higher. Also, look for TA's "Certificate of Excellence" which is hard-earned. Then when you find what you want, book directly with owner, not a booking site, who takes a huge cut from the owner....and, for what? And if you see negative reviews on a spot that you otherwise like, look just to the left of the review to see how many times the reviewer has posted a Trip Advisor review. If less than 10-15, then they're probably not experienced travelers, or they just want to complain. Very often, the complaint is really about a glitch in booking...the fault of a booking website that they shouldn't have used in the first place!
I seem to recall Rick Steves recommending not to use Trip Advisor for hotels/B&B's, but I don't understand, unless he just doesn't like the competition with his books, which we also use. Reviews are from real travelers, and are hard-earned by the properties.

We stayed at Isle-sur-le-Sorgue, which is beautiful and would fit your travel plans. Don't have time now to describe it but Google it and you'll see. The Venice of Provence, they call it.

Good list by Fast Eddie. L'Isle/Sorgue worked well for us (6-7 nights). The "old town" is surrounded by a less charming belt, so it might not suit your desire for "village-y." Wife loved the look of St. Remy and would lobby for it if there's a next time. Hard to make a mistake in that part of France.

Thank you, everyone! We are overwhelmed with the options, but I am leaning towards Bstide Saint Didier as well.

I think it would be hard to go wrong. Provence is pure magic!
