where to spend last night in Normandy/Brittany

You all have been such a great help to me with my trip planning and I have another question for the first part of our trip -- where to spend our last night. We will have spent 3 nights in Bayeux previously, and our options for our 4th night, which happens to be my actual birthday, are either Dinan, Honfleur, or Bayeux again. Our itinerary options are:

4th Night Honfleur

  • Day 1: arrive CDG morning, arrive Bayeux mid-afternoon, explore Bayeux
  • Day 2: explore around Bayeux, Chateau Fort de Pirou, see MSM afternoon, drive back to Bayeux
  • Day 3: full DDay tour, overnight Bayeux
  • Day 4: explore the Route du Cidre, overnight Honfleur
  • Day 5: drive to Versailles to drop rental car, arrive Paris

4th Night Dinan

  • Day 1: arrive CDG morning, arrive Bayeux mid-afternoon, explore Bayeux
  • Day 2: explore the Route du Cidre, overnight Bayeux
  • Day 3: full DDay tour, overnight Bayeux
  • Day 4: Chateau Fort de Pirou, see MSM afternoon, drive to Dinan and drop rental car
  • Day 5: explore Dinan in morning, train at 12:30 to Paris

If we stayed our 4th night in Bayeux, we would not see either Honfleur or Dinan. Saves the hassle of moving for a night, but it sounds like both Honfleur and Dinan are incredibly charming. And, it would give us something new to see before heading to Paris...both look very attractive. I think I may prefer Dinan over Honfleur from the pictures I've seen, but I'd like to know how you think they compare for an overnight visit. I'd like to stroll the streets in the evening, enjoy a good birthday dinner, and perhaps socialize over a few glasses of wine. I also would like to do some shopping from local craft/artisan type shops in the morning before we leave.

I vote for honfleur it is small so picturesque and perfect for plein artists.
Google honfleur so you cn see how peaceful and gorgeous it is. One of my fav towns along the Seine.

The ony comment I would make is that according to the RS guide visiting MSM in the afternoon is a very crowded time. The book recommends either early morning or evening.

You should definately include Mont St. Michel in your trip - spectacular @ sunset!
