Hello all-
My wife and I had initially planned to drive south from Chinon to Sarlat, stopping at Oradour-sur-Glane on the way. It looks to me like that plan would involve about 4 hours 45 minutes of drive time. If practical I'd like to adjust the plan to include a stop roughly halfway. I think Chinon to Oradour-sur-Glane is about 2 hours 45 minutes, and Oradour-sur-Glane to Sarlat is about 2 hours.
Any suggestions regarding a stopover are welcomed.
Thanks for your help.

Ray,
My memory is a bit foggy on the details, but you could either stay in the "new" town of Oradour sur Glane or in nearby Limoges. I haven't checked the driving times.
Thanks, Ken. I suspect Limoges might be the better choice, with more accommodation choices
.
Ray,
I agree, Limoges is probably your best bet. I assume you're planning to visit the "martyr's village". It's a very moving sight.
That's correct, Ken, thanks for your help.
For just a place to sleep, chain hotels like Ibis Budget or HotelF1 can also be convenient to major roads.
per Laura's suggestion, we did just that, staying in a Best Hotel just north of Limoges before going to Oradour in the morning. Very compact, basic rooms with motor home-sized bathrooms en suite. But quite comfortable with a bar/restaurant on site.
There's a nice-looking Logis de France in the new town of Oradour which is itself a pleasant, but very small, town. When I'm in small town in France I never hesitate to stay at a Logis hotel.
If you can, before your trip, see the film, Oradour, released in September 2011 in France.
