We are 2 parents and 3 kids ages 11 and 15 traveling and have just about a week between time in Sancerre and a week near Varen. There's so much we could do--I would love help choosing! I think since we are a week in Sancerre and a week in Varen, so we could do 2-3 stays in a couple of places before Varen. We will have a car! Thank you in advance!!!

Was just in some of those fascinating areas in between Sancerre and Varen. I'm just going to mention a few places I would go (and did go) but not suggesting where to base yourselves - Oradour-sur- Glane, Les Eyzies de Tayac, Sarlat la Canada, Rocamadour, Cahors, and Saint - Cirq-Lapopie. I would also look into visiting a cave - perhaps Pech-Merle.
I took guided tours in Rocamadour and Cahors. Much of these areas are so historic from a medieval as well as WWII time period, I would look into movies or books about these areas prior to your visit to enhance your family's vacation.
