I am spending 4 1/2 full days in Provence (3 by myself and 1 1/2 with 3 sisters ..)
i plan to stay 2 nights in Apt taking a little time to visit the Luberon and surrounding areas..then staying a night in Uzes and after picking sisters up in Nimes, visiting Arles and Nimes and going to stay one night in Aix...back to Nimes...my question is after they leave for Paris , I can choose to stay 2 days more in the area...and then take train from marseille or nimes (where i got the car)
Anyone have suggestions to add 2 days? i am 70 plus years with a bad knee and cannot climb ...ok?
thanks!
Since u will still have a car ck out lovely small Cassis along the water. The calanques by boat is a wonderful cruise along the waters edge to see the unique limestone coast line. Ck it out . There are lovely views from the hotels and prommenade area. A greatway to end your trip.
Another option is a visit to the Camargue, the largest wetlands in Europe. It is immediately south of Arles and has two charming (and very different) villages: the walled village of Aigues Mort and the seaside town of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. If you like nature, this is a wonderful national park with trails for horseback riding or biking. You can see the famous white Camargue horses, the black bulls (and attend a bull "race" if your timing is right) and the elegant pink flamingos (easily seen in the bird sanctuary).
