We are planning a river cruise in Sept. - Paris to Normandy for 7days - but we want to extend our trip by a week and would like to stay in France. We are thinking that we should take a train from Paris to a specific region, rent an Airbnb & then visit the local sights. We are all in our mid to late 70's, so we are not as active as we used to be, so staying in one area seems to be the best solution for us. Two of the couples have been to the Bordeaux region so they would not want to repeat that again. We have been to Provence and loved it and would go back, but it would be nice to go somewhere new! Any suggestions would be very appreciated!!
Brittany would be nice -- we spent a few nights in St. Malo as a base and loved it -- visited Dinan and Dinard by public transport and trained to Carnac and hired a guide for the neolithic sites. The Dordogne is also just wonderful if you can rent a car while there.
Thank you so much! I will check these places out and share with our friends .
Does the cruise end in Paris? Brittany is west of Normandy meaning you would have to return to where you came from. What about taking a direct train to Nice (6h) and exploring the riviera?
yes the cruise ends in Paris...we are looking into some day trip tours now and we have found out that our friends don't want to stay in France for an extended week :(
Thank you Mary Pat for the suggestion - we loved NIce!
